Hist 1700 American Civilization
We were required to analyze and write about "dueling documents" found in the textbook. Dueling documents are two sometimes three primary source documents offering a different perspective on key events in history. These actual documents let us see that there was always two sides to every issue, that even though history may recorded on one side.
After reading the documents we were to analyze certain key elements, determine why it was important, why it was important and why did it matter so much and why it may still matter now.

The assignment was to look at the two differnt sides of important issues, to analyze, to think critically about the events that took place, their meaning for the people involved as well as how these documents reflected what was happening around them. It was difficult to not immediately take sides, but to investigate the background of each position. I did three Dueling Document assisgnments, each time getting a little better at gather my ideas and putting them in a clear eassy/paper. I believe this paper was actully pretty good.
