Reflective Essay
The class was told at the beginning that there would be no text book' Yea! Well that Yea was short lived...
Because instead of text book, each student was going to create their own website. A website on the topic of their choice.
From the Course Syllabus:
"So while technically the focus of the course is on genre, research, and document design, I feel that the best approach is to make writing real--to deal with real issues, real experiences, and to put it on the internet for a twenty-first audience searching for information you might be able to provide. You will choose you own issue to address, something that you have had experience with and want to explore further and than tackle the issue from four distinct angles:
- A Profile page
- A report page
- An Instruction page
- A position or proposal page
- scattered blog posts
Creating this website gave me the opportunity to really take seriously what information I was I want to explore and present to a real audience. I needed to approach reading and research critically, analytically, and rhetorically. I needed to conceive, draft and revise, and site sources following a proper format. I designed a website featuring several visual elements to enhance the overall appeal and interest.
This was a very rewarding experience for me on so many levels. I was able to address several of my own person fears in regards to writing and technology. I learn so much about the writing process during this class than I have ever learn in a life time. And best of all is that I have a living breathing product that will stands as a testament of the skills I learned. I am very proud of my work, and grateful for such a wonderful teacher.
As you can probably tell my website is about meditation, but not just meditation.
